I know you're Thinking it, "is Daniel Jones really good or is this just a dream"

First let's lay out some stats before we get into the rest of the discussion. Throughout nine weeks of pure Colt's bliss Daniel Jones has thrown for 2,404 yards and 14 touchdowns. Yes, you can read that line again if you want too. As of week, 8 he had just a minuscule 3 turnovers and a QBR of 70.4. He is first in the entire league for passing yards and that is saying a lot considering the elite quarterback list that currently exists, such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.

I think that it should also be known that Jones is not experiencing this success by himself, and I think that is where some of this delusion from fans is coming from. As all football enthusiasts know, the best way to have a successful passing game is to, yup you guessed it, have an absolute animal at running back Insert Jonathan Taylor. JT is having a career season with 895 yards with a 5.7-yard average and 12 touchdowns. Not only is this leading the league, but it is also putting him in the MVP conversation and rightfully so.

But now we are starting to understand why Daniel Jones has been having the success that we have been seeing. Teams are terrified of number 28 in the backfield, and this has opened up that ferocious passing attack with Peirce and Pittman on the receiving end.

Then came TJ Watt and the Pittsburg Steelers. They came out with a game plan that most teams have been unable execute, and that was stop Jonathan Taylor. He ended the game with 14 carries and just 45 yards rushing. Not only did they stop JT they sacked Jones 5 times and forced 3 turnovers. This was a very out of character game for the Indianapolis Colts but what it did show is that they have a weak spot.

413's Bottom Line

I still believe that the Colts will win their division and they already have shown great improvement in every category from previous years. But they are going to have to make sure they are feeding number 28 and protecting Daniel Jones in the pocket. The gameplan the Steelers executed (blitz baby blitz) will be mimicked by future opponents. How will they respond? Time will tell.
