WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary Tribe poured in one of its most complete offensive performances of the season Thursday night, topping the North Carolina A&T Aggies97–89 in a high-scoring Coastal Athletic Association contest at Kaplan Arena.
William & Mary showcased its scoring versatility throughout the evening, pushing the tempo and taking advantage of mismatches on both ends of the floor. The Tribe built a lead late in the first half and never relinquished it, steadily expanding the margin behind balanced scoring and aggressive defensive pressure that turned into timely transition opportunities.
Senior forward Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi led the charge with 19 points, and he filled the stat sheet across the board with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. His all-around effort set the tone for William & Mary, particularly in critical stretches in the second half when the Aggies mounted their comeback attempts.
Joining Fasasi in double figures was Reese Miller, scoring 19 points. Miller, was efficient being 8-of-12 from the field and knocking down three of his five three-point attempts. Miller’s shooting threat helped stretch the A&T defense and opened driving lanes for his teammates. Forward Kilian Brockhoff was a force with 15 points and 6 rebounds, further illustrating the Tribe’s depth and offensive balance.
North Carolina A&T didn’t go quietly. The Aggies were paced by Lewis Walker’s 33 points, a game-high scoring effort that kept A&T within striking distance throughout the second half. Trent Middleton Jr. contributed 20 points, while Zamoku Weluche-Ume posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, sparking multiple A&T runs that threatened to shift momentum in their favor.
Despite those individual performances, the Aggies struggled to sustain consistency against a William & Mary team that hit timely shots and executed efficiently in critical moments. A&T’s defensive lapses allowed the Tribe to answer key runs, and turnovers in the final minutes diminished hopes of a comeback.
William & Mary seized control late in the first half. From there, the Tribe’s offense clicked by converting on open looks and controlling the glass, building a more comfortable second-half cushion. A pivotal 11-3 run midway through the second half pushed the lead into double digits, forcing A&T to play catch-up. While the Aggies closed the gap multiple times, William & Mary responded each time with a clutch shot or a defensive stop. With relentless ball movement and energy off the bench, the Tribe preserved its lead down the stretch.
413’s Bottomline
With the win, William & Mary stops a recent skid and earns a much-needed momentum boost in CAA play. The Tribe now looks ahead to a challenging weekend slate as league play heats up, while A&T hopes to build off its competitive effort and find consistency as conference play progresses.
