DALLAS — In the storied Red River Rivalry, Texas stepped up in a big way, defeating No. 6 Oklahoma by a convincing 23–6 margin. The Longhorns’ defense and special teams delivered, while quarterback Arch Manning provided enough spark to keep Oklahoma at bay.

Texas struck first in the second half, and they never looked back. On the opening drive of the third quarter, Manning found the end zone which injected life into the Texas’ offense. Meanwhile, Oklahoma couldn’t get going offensively. Their signal caller, John Mateer, fresh from recent hand surgery, struggled by throwing three interceptions and was under relentless pressure by the Longhorns defense.

A pivotal moment came late in the game when Ryan Niblett exploded for a 75-yard punt return touchdown. This put the game virtually out of reach and electrified the crowd. Texas’ defense was perfect to following the gameplan as they blanked Oklahoma in the second half and allowed just 26 yards of offense during a dominant third quarter.

413’s Bottomline

Texas showed grit and balance in a rivalry game where emotions ran high. The Longhorns’ defense reclaimed control, and special teams delivered the knockout blow. As for Oklahoma, this was a brutal reminder that quarterback health and clean execution matter as they fell short today. Since joining the SEC, Texas is 8-2 in conference play, while OU is just 3-7.
