ATHENS — The No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs delivered a big punch in the second half to knock off No. 5 Ole Miss, 43–35, handing the Rebels their first loss of the season. Georgia’s late surge both offensively and defensively proved decisive in a wild, back-and-forth game.
Quarterback Gunner Stockton was electric, completing 26 of 31 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 59 rushing yards and a rushing score. Tight end Lawson Luckie emerged as a gamebreaker, hauling in three touchdown catches to lead the Bulldogs’ receiving corps.
For Ole Miss, Trinidad Chambliss kept the fight alive. He passed for 263 yards and a score, and added two rushing touchdowns, showing flashes of brilliance even as his team fell behind. A turning point came late in this game. Ole Miss had built a lead after a 75-yard touchdown pass to De’Zhaun Stribling early in the third, but Georgia outscored the Rebels 23–7 from that point on. The Bulldogs’ defense stiffened in the fourth quarter, forcing multiple stops and sealing the win.
413’s Bottomline
This was another statement win for Georgia. Once again, they showed they can flex in big games especially when they’re behind and that their offense has the firepower to overcome deficits. Good teams always find ways to win. For Ole Miss, it’s a tough loss, but not one that erases what they’ve accomplished so far. The question now… Can Chambliss and the Rebels rebound from this and prove that this was just a growing pain, not a setback?
