MIAMI GARDENS — The No. 5 seed Oregon Ducks path to the College Football Playoff semifinals was forged not by offensive fireworks, but by a dominant, disciplined defensive performance that smothered the No. 4 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders from start to finish in a 23–0 shutout victory at the Orange Bowl.
From the opening kickoff, Oregon dictated the terms of engagement. The Ducks’ defensive front overwhelmed Texas Tech’s offensive line, collapsing the pocket consistently and eliminating any chance for the Red Raiders to establish tempo. Known for explosive scoring, Texas Tech found itself out of sync early and never recovered.
Oregon’s secondary played aggressively yet soundly, limiting downfield opportunities and forcing Texas Tech to settle for short gains. Third-down efficiency proved to be the difference, as Oregon repeatedly forced punts and won the field-position battle throughout the night.
Offensively, Oregon didn’t need to be spectacular but just efficient. Quarterback Dante Mooremanaged the game with precision, making smart decisions and keeping the chains moving. The Ducks leaned on their rushing attack to chew clock and wear down the Red Raiders, while special teams and defensive takeaways consistently gave Oregon advantageous starting positions.
By halftime, the tone had been firmly established. Texas Tech struggled to string together meaningful drives, and every failed possession seemed to sap more confidence from the Red Raiders. Oregon extended its lead with methodical scoring drives in the second half, maintaining complete control of the game’s tempo.
The shutout marked one of the most impressive postseason defensive performances in recent CFP history and underscored Oregon’s identity as a complete team capable of winning inmultiple ways. With momentum firmly on their side, the Ducks advance to the semifinals with confidence and national attention squarely focused on their championship aspirations.
